It has been claimed that the UK could soon be seeing the end of cheap mobile broadband deals for users.
Analysts predict that because the cost of rolling out the next-generation broadband network is not being sustained, there are likely to be changes to internet tariffs.
Mobile News reports that these could start coming into effect by the end of the year.
However, in the opinion of Broadband Genie, casual internet users may benefit as more 'pay for what you use' policies could be introduced by many providers.
Chris Marling, editor of Broadband Genie, said that "UK broadband providers are no mugs" and "they realise the situation isn't sustainable and will be looking to change packages and turn a profit in the near future".
Analysys Mason Research Telecoms recently claimed that next-generation broadband in the UK may not generate enough revenue to encourage businesses to invest.
