Starting up a business with your spouse would, for some, not be conducive to either a healthy marriage or a healthy business.
For others however, such as Michael and Wink Jackson, it works; and in their case they just so happen to be super-healthy too.
A recent article in CNN Money entitled Zeal Optics' vision quest: A high-performance eyewear maker gears up for growth, focussed on the couple's company and their drive for further success.
The Jacksons make high-performance sunglasses and ski-goggles of cutting-edge design and technology, selling their products both online and through retailers across the country.
With eyewear an essential part of a number of extreme sports these days, the sleek, mod-cool company is a tight-fit for an active and energetic couple who are both former professional mountain bike fanatics.
Indeed, Wink says that eyewear technology is something that modern athletes should utilise as best they can and harks back to her professional days when she had no such luxury.
She said: "Eyewear is a critical piece of athletic equipment. My sunglasses were always fogging up or falling off."
The couple started Zeal Optics in 1995 having met five years previously in Japan while teaching English and beginning their fledging careers in mountain-biking.
Since then, Michael and Wink - as chief executive and president respectively - have guided the company from strength to strength and, more recently, from Moab to Boulder.
The reason for the move was simple: ambition. The company was doing well in Moab (in 2008 sales hit $2.3 million), but the entrepreneurial couple wanted more.
Following the relocation and the subsequent increase in employee ability, the Jacksons have set their sights on $25 million in revenues within the next decade.
The challenge will no-doubt be a tough one, but if anyone's got the stamina for it, it's a couple of ex-triathletes.
Michael suggests that the essential challenges to be overcome include the expansion of product distribution among sports shops and optical outlets across the country, the implementation of a savvier marketing campaign and the raising of growth capital.
Whether the couple succeed in hitting their ten-year target or not, a great deal can be learned by others from their attitude towards business – it is perhaps of little coincidence that a couple who run a company called Zeal Optics, approach their work with such zealousness.
