Men and women in IT jobs are being affected by the growing consumerisation in the sector.
That is according to SAP, which has claimed that personal computing is starting to merge with the use of IT in business.
When choosing what solutions to use in a corporate environment, people are being influenced by their consumer technology choices.
David Keene, vice-president of large enterprises for the business software provider, stated: "The ability to actually see the consumerisation of IT is a little fact we all have to bear in mind in terms of the decisions we'll be processing around buying solutions.
"[People are shopping on the internet] every day at home; they're buying things from Amazon, they're going on all the websites that are out there, they understand the odds that are possible, they understand the odds of how IT can work."
Forrester Research has predicted that global IT purchases will decrease during 2009 for the first time in eight years.
