The world's first ecommerce platform for purchasing synthetic DNA has been launched.
Mr Gene is a concept designed to aid scientists working in public research institutes and universities to order customed-designed genes over the internet.
Customers can design the gene of their choice themselves, or use expert software to engineer sequences to meet their requirements, before making their purchase via credit card.
Specific genes can be industrially manufactured at competitive rates, according to the team behind Mr Gene, which procures synthetic DNA of all kinds of organisms from a series of global producers.
"Don't waste your time with unnecessary cloning! Simply get the desired DNA sequence from Mr Gene at a very good price," the vendor recommends.
The new ecommerce platform began operation earlier this week.
