Ecommerce software provider Nexternal Solutions has announced that its online retailing product now offers a Preferred Delivery Date feature.
Using this application, website users can specify the date of their delivery while checking out.
This is particularly useful for merchants that supply event-driven products, according to the California-based software firm.
Vendors can use the upgrade to specify a lead time and set a cut-off point, in order to make delivery times more specific. The tool also monitors real-time transit information, sent by the relevant shipping carriers.
"Orders are tagged and color coded in a way that allows merchants to see which order must go out on a given day. They can even batch process today's shipments without fear of including a future shipment request," explained Ty Nunez, director of business development at Nexternal.
"Although this tool has tremendous benefits for companies that ship gift items, it also provides a competitive advantage to all merchants that use it. When shopping online, it's a great convenience to specify a preferred delivery date."
Ecommerce retailers that already make use of Nexternal software will be delivered the update automatically and at no extra cost.
