A new search tool exclusively for business professionals has been launched by the Financial Times Group.
Called Newssift.com, it is a next generation search tool that searches thousands of business news sources from around the globe.
It has been developed because the FT believes a specialist method of contextualising trends, events and opinions in the business world is needed as more businesses move online.
Robin Johnson, chief executive of Newssift.com creators, FT Search, said: "Unlike traditional search, Newssift was developed to enable users to string together a query that can provide insight into the relationship between people, organisations, geography, and business theme, which ultimately facilitates more informed business decisions.
"There are only a few search engines that employ relationship-based or semantic algorithms, and to date there is no other that accomplishes refinement using a business point of view."
The way the system works has been compared by the FT to the method used for comparing retail products online.
