When people go abroad on a relaxing break to get away from it all, this does not extend as far as leaving access to the internet behind, travel experts have revealed.
Mobile phones and laptops are being taken on breaks by more holidaymakers than ever before, according to Expedia.
Men and women in business, eager to check what is happening back in the office, and leisure users are all likely to pack their laptop along with their suntan lotion.
Alison Couper, communications director at Expedia, stated: "The internet is an integral tool in the fabric of modern living.
"So, whether at home or abroad it is important for people to be able to go online - whether it's to contact friends and family, catch up on work emails or book the next part of their trip."
Research from Amadeus revealed that the majority of firms reported their employees as mobile phone users while abroad.
Mobile devices are used by 89 per cent to send and receive email, with 69 per cent accessing the web via their phones.
