Print media's shift to online-only has continued with the publishers of Maxim magazine announcing that it too will soon become an online-only title.
Maxim's June issue, on sale from April 23rd, will be the last edition to hit the newsstands, Dennis Publishing has said.
Hailed as a means of "moving with the times", the move to online-only is both a way of ensuring the magazine reaches its audience in the most convenient manner and also a means of streamlining the costs of producing the title.
Online advertising space is now charged at a premium whereas print media is struggling to maintain the revenues it once dictated from advertisers as a result, and such a pattern could be seen in many other business sectors.
"The Maxim UK website, which launched in 1999, has developed one of the internet's most loyal set of users and currently registers 500,000 unique users per month and 8.2 million page impressions per month," said a statement from Dennis Publishing.
"The website also has 260,000 subscribers to its weekly email newsletter."
