Ecommerce search and merchandising specialist Mercado Software has announced a new module to help online retailers improve search engine optimization (SEO).
The selling point of the provider's latest offering is its ability to index large online catalogs and expose individual products to the major search engines, driving customer traffic without excessive hardware requirements.
The indexing process also improves response times for end users, while allowing them to browse larger catalogs, according to Mercado.
"With search engine marketing costs climbing to more than $10 per order on average, many online retailers are depending heavily on natural search to drive more shopping traffic to their sites," said Corey Leibow, president and chief executive of Mercado.
"Through our SEO functionality, online retailers can easily and automatically optimize their sites to obtain greatly improved natural search rankings, thereby reducing their marketing costs while increasing traffic and conversion rates."
The SEO tool is said to support the sitemap protocols employed by the leading search engines such as Google and Yahoo, allowing spiders to locate previously 'hidden' product descriptions.
One of the major benefits of the product's automatic SEO generation is that users no longer need to shoehorn in keywords to bring in the best buyers.
