Dell has become the first computer manufacturer to launch a corporate blog in Chinese.
Direct2Dell Chinese was announced on the eve of a trip to the world's most populous country by the company's founder and chief executive Michael Dell.
China is one of the computer specialist's fastest growing markets. Having established a presence in the People's Republic eight years ago, Dell now ships more computers to China than all but two other rivals.
"By listening directly to Chinese customers through digital-community tools and networks, Dell can deliver better, more customized products and a superior experience," said Mr Dell.
"About one-fifth of the world's population speaks Chinese as their first language.
"As the number of Dell customers expands globally and the online population doubles from one to two billion people over the next few years, we will continue to have conversations in the language of choice for our customers."
With bloggers from the company's management, engineering, sales and customer care departments discussing products, services, IT trends and life experiences, incorporating customer feedback, the service is designed to encourage consumer interaction.
Using Web 2.0 communication tools, the Chinese blog is an extension of the English-language corporate blog.
