The UK government has launched a new online tool designed to help house-builders to use recycled materials and meet their minimum legal green requirements.
The Recycled Product Guide currently includes over 150 products from a number of firms and aims to become a national database for businesses to buy recycled products that will ultimately help the UK to fulfil its environmental Kyoto obligations.
Using the web to publish such a guide means that it is easily searchable and a function on its website allows businesses selling recycled goods to add their products to the database.
"An increasing number of construction clients and planning authorities are setting minimum requirements for recycled content as a project-level outcome," says Dr. David Moon, WRAP's programme manager for construction procurement.
"As a result, there is greater demand for comprehensive information on the range of high quality products on the market that contain above-average levels of recovered material."
The tool has been developed by Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP).
