Small and medium business owners looking to make inroads into the world of ecommerce can build a full-scale checkout application with a new program released yesterday.
The eCart 4, made by software developer WebAssist, features a step-by-step wizard that guides users through the process of building their personalised online shop and can be plugged into Adobe Dreamweaver's CS3 website creation program.
Added features include the ability to add state or country tax rules and shipping charges where appropriate. It also works will major payment gateways PayPal and Authorize.Net.
"eCart 4 finally makes eCommerce approachable for both small business owners and Web professionals," said Eric Ott, president of WebAssist.
"The broad Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 market can now create completely customized online stores with a minimum of effort and zero technical expertise."
Having a secure payment system on a company's website is one of its key assets as it can bring in high revenues and increase the site's trust among users.
But to bring customers to the site initially involves opening gateways and drawing web browsers in using an expert linking strategy.
