Central role for blogs in new personal finance site

A former television presenter turned business guru has set up her own personal finance website in order to educate the general public about techniques to keep their finances in a healthy state.

In contrast to many consumer news and finance website moneymagpie.com bills itself as a light-hearted, humorous read that is as fun as it is informing.

To achieve this goal, editor Jasmine Birtles, who has authored 36 books, has set up four blogs, specially designed to appeal to readers of different financial persuasions.

All written by women, the blogs cover small businesses, food and the family and those looking to get out of debt as well as a general tips blog.

Not only should the continual updates help to boost the site up the extremely competitive search engine rankings.

"There's something about managing money that makes normally sensible people go ga-ga," says Jasmine.

"Moneymagpie cuts through all the jargon and red tape, with simple step-by-step solutions to everyday problems. And we try to make it fun too - just because banks are boring, doesn’t mean we have to be!"
