A website is providing blogs from various family owned businesses to give others an insight into their decision-making and operations, as well as promoting discussion between businesses which can learn from one another.
Wayne Messick, co-founder of Family Business Strategies and author of two thirds of the business profiles, said: "It occurred to me that there were lots of stories from Main Street that people would want to read about.
"So I made a few calls to my association contacts in a dozen industries and the rest was easy."
Since 1999 more than 100 family owned businesses have told their success stories on iBizResources.
Those from successful businesses were interviewed about how their companies had been formed and how they had overcome challenges. They also discussed hopes and plans for the future.
The interviews make up just one per cent of the site's content, but attract an impressive 32 per cent of its traffic.
Business blogs, according to iBizResources, provide a great way to offer an insight into your company. They also give experts and customers the chance to comment on others' blogs, such as those sponsored by their industry's trade association, extending the discussion outside its original parameters.
