Companies are more likely to turn to the internet due to the changes the recession has brought across the board in business.
IT firm Navisite has suggested that the economic downturn has made more firms realise how viable turning to the internet can be.
This has made it a favourable time to invest in IT and the internet, as there is a whole host of opportunities, products and services available.
Sumeet Sabharwal, managing director of NaviSite, told CXOtoday that there are "simple tools" that can help businesses online during the recession and many firms need educating about the subject.
"With the growing impact of the internet business model for the companies both revenue growth and business process execution have come to depend upon a robust IT infrastructure," he added.
This emphasis on the importance of the internet for businesses has been echoed by ThinkGrid, which highlighted the flexibility of the web.
