Firms looking to use the internet to get ahead of their rivals have been advised to consider utilising the possibilities of social media.
While social networking sites first came to the world's attention in the form of leisure time distractions such as MySpace and Facebook, there are now a whole host of business-based sites.
These can be utilised by companies that have the right strategy and frame of mind, according to Brando Social.
Jamie Burke, managing director of the firm, stated that using social media for business now could lead to bigger things in the future.
"It's our belief that social media is not only the key environment for brands and organisations to interact with their customers and members, but also an expression of a far bigger change with far reaching implications for the way business is done," he stated.
Hostway recently claimed that web media will be "number one for a very long time" for businesses.
