As more and more households in the UK get connected to the internet and broadband services, it would appear as though youngsters are being encouraged to spend more time online.
Research conducted by Cyber Sentinel has discovered that the average teenager spends 31 hours a week surfing the web.
A further one in three admitted that they try to hide what they were looking at if a parent comes into the room, Netimpiritive reported.
The study revealed that many teenagers look for information about plastic surgery while many spend up to three hours a week trying to find help with their homework on the net.
It was also discovered the youngsters spend, on average, one hour and 40 minutes a week looking at porn sites.
