Businesses looking to increase their productivity should consider taking advantage of unified communications systems such as voice over-internet protocol (VoIP), one expert suggests.
Writing on IT-Director.com, Dale Vile, research director at Freeform Dynamics, claims that business decisions can be delayed and interrupted because of the plethora of communications systems which are currently used by many firms.
Instead, VoIP means that enterprises "no longer have to live with the complexity that has sneaked up on us over the past decade or two", Mr Vile states.
He adds that voice, video and data can all be brought together on to the same infrastructure which allows "the user to see the presence of information and offers click to communicate capability in lots of different scenarios".
Meanwhile, CNN Money recently reported that many of the previous issues surrounding the sound quality of VoIP solutions have now been resolved if people use the correct headsets.
