The benefits of setting up a website for businesses have been highlighted by internet experts.
Red Echo, a marketing consultancy, has revealed that websites can still benefit companies even if the products and services they are selling are not available online.
This is because the internet is still a cheap way to connect with customers and interact with them, eventually garnering lasting business relationships.
Chris Naylor, managing director of Red Echo, said that websites are "very effective" for all types of firms.
"Interacting with your website visitors isn't necessarily about getting a sale on the day that they visit, it's about building an ongoing relationship," he commented.
"As a minimum, business owners should be collecting the name, address and mobile phone number of every visitor to build a database containing a wealth of information."
The Internet Advertising Bureau recently described marketing online as both "effective and accountable", due to its customised nature of interacting with potential clients.
