To get the most from a business blog, it is best to add updates several times per week, according to an expert at the blogging giant Six Apart.
"Though some excellent business blogs only update a few times a month", the firm's vice president Anil Dash told Macworld, but in his view it is best to publish news and views as soon as there is something to say, rather than storing it up.
Forcing updates can also be detrimental, he explained.
"If you force it, your readers will be able to tell and you won't be doing anyone any favors."
Including comments on relevant current affairs, details of upcoming events or links to content or videos on other sites of interest are other ways of keeping a blog up-to-date, he continued.
Generating awareness of your business blog is as important as the content. Mr Dash recommends businesses promote their blog by approaching organizations or publications with similar blogs to provide a link-back function.
